Tradpete Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Has anyone a spare Jackie concertina tutor book I could buy? Much appreciated as just starting to learn.
Mike Franch Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 You could also get Frank Butler's instruction book. It's for a 48 button, but it would work fine for your 30 button. You can find them on Ebay or download for free at http://www.concertina.com/butler/butler-the-concertina-tutor.pdf. The Butler is old, but I think many of us still consider it a fine tutor.
Tradpete Posted March 1, 2016 Author Posted March 1, 2016 It's a bit like me old but I am enjoying the challenge. Thanks for the advice.
Wolf Molkentin Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 The Butler is old, but I think many of us still consider it a fine tutor. Looks like a very basic approach and quite promising if the apprentice has no deeper muscial education behind him resp. her, particularly if the EC is the first instrument to be learned... Best wishes for your efforts, Pete! The EC is a wonderful companion...
Tradpete Posted March 1, 2016 Author Posted March 1, 2016 I have grade five theory and a Lifetime in Trad music but not as a melody player, previously guitar. A good friend of mine Andrew Knight passed recently who was a good ec player and I was hoping to get some pointers from him alas not to be.

So I'd reckon maybe any customary tutor might annoy you to some degree, at least it would have in my case. The EC is rather self-explaining to the musically educated, that's part of "her" appeal IMO...
Tradpete Posted March 1, 2016 Author Posted March 1, 2016 Musically educated maybe but not co-ordinated!
Wolf Molkentin Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 I didn't mean to discourage you re turning to a tutor in any way, go ahead!
Tradpete Posted March 1, 2016 Author Posted March 1, 2016 Thanks I will use the tutor just to make sure I am not learning incorrectly. Thanks for you comments I will keep practicing.
Tradpete Posted March 2, 2016 Author Posted March 2, 2016 Thanks to all have the manual now Regards Pete
