Bald Reynard Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 After a fair bit of research on the relative merits of English v Hayden Duet as a Beginners model, I have now decided to look for a secondhand Elise. As someone who has never played ANY type of concertina (Anglo, English or Duet), I won't have to 're-learn' a particular style (which seems to be the main criticism with the Hayden Duet), just need an easy starter instrument. The new price of £300+ is a little steep for me as a beginner, but a used Elise, for a little less money, could be a good introduction. Are there any Elise's out there at the moment ? I see there were a couple in 2014.
Wolf Molkentin Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Far from trying to talk you out of a decision apparently having been made I'd nevertheless add for consideration that it might be a bit short-sighted to look just at the merits "as a beginners model", I'd rather lean onto the merits regarding playing music as intended... Anyways, good look with your journey... Wolf
Geoff Wooff Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 I have one that I'd be prepared to sell. It has done very little work as I found another Hayden very shortly after buying the Elise. However,I live in France and I'm sure you could find one in UK. I saw a secondhand one on ebay a couple of days ago, perhaps not much cheaper than a new one, I am not sure of the UK price.

Thanks Geoff, that was a quick reply. I could be very interested in your Elise. I have been looking for a UK instrument for a few weeks now, but none are available at the moment. I realise you might not be sure of a realistic price, but if it's OK, I'll 'PM' you and we can try and sort out something ?
