StuartEstell Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Hello all, If anyone in the UK is considering selling a Jeffries anglo in Bb/F I am looking for one with 44+ keys (ideally a 50).
adrian brown Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Have you seen the J. Bros one on the BB website Stuart? - seems a good price. Adrian
Alex West Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 It does seem a good price but it's possible that import duty into the UK (or Europe generally) for an instrument less than 100 years old would make it less attractive Alex West
StuartEstell Posted July 7, 2015 Author Posted July 7, 2015 I have Adrian, thanks - I'm keen to be able to try instruments out in person though as I've some quite specific requirements in terms of tone etc.
doodle Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Chris Algar at Barleycorn is always a good default choice for a Jeffries, if you haven't already tried. He had a restored one a while back on eBay which didn't sell al the time - can't remember whether it was a 45+ one or not, but certainly looked v. nice and was at least 39 buttons. Lovely choice of key for rich tone and singing, good luck with the search.
StuartEstell Posted July 9, 2015 Author Posted July 9, 2015 Hello there - yes, thanks, I've spoken to Chris already. Always worth exploring all the available options!
Miliosa Lundy Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 I believe we might have a B Flat F Anglo Jeffries from 1890's with a leather case. Let me check the keys...it's certainly not regular pitch and i think it was used for English Dancing. My email is mililundy@gmail.com I will try to figure out keys for certain.
StuartEstell Posted July 22, 2015 Author Posted July 22, 2015 Thanks for your response Mili -- I'm keen to get my hands on any instrument I consider so would look only at instruments in the UK at the moment. If this approach fails me I may ultimately have to reconsider, but I'm in no rush to find the right box!
Chris Ghent Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Richard Evans has a 38 for sale. Its a beauty, I'd buy it! Unfortunately it is in Australia, but if you run out of other options you might consider it. It is more than 100 years old. Chris
ceemonster Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 (edited) hhhrrrrm, i see that 30b B-fl/F Jeffries has vanished from BB's postings .... hein??? i was told by BB that it had a fantastic huge voice . . . .well, perhaps you're still after a 44-ish? BB said the one they have has a quieter voice, it was the 30b that was a barker . . . Edited August 20, 2015 by ceemonster
StuartEstell Posted August 22, 2015 Author Posted August 22, 2015 Hello there - yes, still looking for a 44+, in the UK so I can try it...
StuartEstell Posted September 4, 2015 Author Posted September 4, 2015 Bump! Still looking for a 44+ button Bb/F in the UK...
ceemonster Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 You're just gonna have to go to Boston and take a trip to BB to see the one they've got . . .
