Hello! This is my first post, and since I'm only a B/C box player, I hope you'll go easy on me. (I do actually own a concertina, if that's any consolation, a 40's German Ab/Eb with very nice reeds, which will never be playable due to multiple air leaks and poor construction. Believe me, I've tried.)

I also teach flute and whistle, and I have a whistle student who did the sensible thing and took up the concertina (30-button Anglo). She's making great progress, and I'm able to show her quite a bit of stuff and teach her tunes, but I have no idea where to start with rolls on the concertina. So far, the response I've got to this question is "Go to a Noel Hill workshop", which isn't really practical at this stage.

What we're looking for are basic suggestions/descriptions, of roll patterns. Anything out there on the web? I know Noel Hill plays rolls differently from some (everybody else?), so it would be nice to hear an outline of the differences.

Any help would be most appreciated. I'll come back with some annoying box-player stories.

Thanks very much! That will certainly give us something to think about.
