malcolm clapp Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Idly wondering whether an alphabetical database of purchasers names has yet been compiled from the ledgers? A nice little project for some one perhaps....though probably of limited value. I just noticed in the Horniman ledgers that Wheatstone # 9212, dated August 18th 1858, was sold to a Mr J Conduit, a somewhat unusual surname, though shared with the then street name of the Wheatstone premises. I have absolutely no intention of searching the post 1905 ledgers for a concertina sold to some one with the more common surname of West....
wes williams Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 Alan Atlas has done a name index of female purchasers up to ~1870 at http://www.concertina.com/atlas/ladies/index.htm . If anybody wants to take on a full index of names, my serial/page databases for the early ledgers are at http://www.concertina.com/williams/serial-number-muddle/index.htm and I have more indexes available.
