chas Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 <morris pedant> The dance and the tune are called Old Molly Oxford </morris pedant> Nicely played though Agreed, beautifully played. But Step Back is a common alternative name. According to Bacon, it was Sharp's descriptive name for the dance. <The pedant's pedant>
Jim Besser Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 (edited) <morris pedant> The dance and the tune are called Old Molly Oxford </morris pedant> Nicely played though I've always thought of it as Old Molly, although I sometimes get that confused with Old Tom. in the US, Step Back seems to be the more common name for some reason. First time someone asked me to play Step Back, I said I didn't know it - then he hummed Old Tom, and I changed my mind. Edited February 19, 2015 by Jim Besser
