I'm renovating a 56 key Lachenal Edeophone with aluminium reed frames. The reed frames have a bad case of aluminium rot and are reduced to half thickness in places. I don't think they will play very well. I would like to find a replacement set of Lachenal long scale steel reeds for a treble EC, either from an Edeophone or a New model. 48 key set would be perfect as the highest reeds are all usable.

Please contact me by pm if you have anything that might be suitable.

FWIW: I once measured a variety of reeds in several treble English concertinas, and each had different scaling of the reeds. In particular, the reeds in the New Model and Edeophone (I had one of each) were not interchangeable, not without modifying the slots in the reed pans.

It also left me wondering just what "long scale" meant, as even the different Aeolas didn't all have frames and reeds scaled the same, while all were significantly different from the Edeophone..

Thanks Jim, that is useful. In the case of the Edeophone I have tried a few reeds from a New Model I have to hand and while not an exact fit they are very close, and have similar scaling, so while there may be differences there is also a good chance that New Model reeds, if available, would fulfil the purpose I have for them.
