Alan Day Posted November 30, 2014 Author Posted November 30, 2014 No comments on this one is it back to the drawing board? Al
Geoff Wooff Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 (edited) Sorry for not commenting Al, nice stuff, as usual ! Can you find some more chords? Ralph used some minors ( or diminisheds) and Seventh's in the version that I have ( a recording of the group 'Eric).... though I have yet to buy Anglo International I suspect it could be the same recording.... PS I'm intending to buy Anglo International at the same time as Duet International.... hoping to save on postage and Bank fee's etc. Best regards, Geoff. Edited November 30, 2014 by Geoff Wooff
Wolf Molkentin Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 Alan, you know that I'm very fond of your playing and always loved to watch your videos. However, this one is in fact a bit different as for me (which was the reason for my not commenting). Apart from my rather not being too fond of any oom-pah accompaniment, you seem to lose the flow of the music at some points where the oom-pah is quiet. Given the confidence and accuracy not just of your playing in general but starting this track as well the progress left me a bit, well, disenchanted... I hope you don't mind me and am really looking forward to further upcoming videos from your side! Best wishes - Wolf
Alan Day Posted November 30, 2014 Author Posted November 30, 2014 Thanks for this comment Wolf. This is a very difficult piece to play on the Anglo and it requires considerable use of the accidentals and is really playing the Anglo as a Duet. I think this would be the reason it loses its flow on a few occassions. Also it only represents about four days practice so I problably got exited at even getting to play the tune and recorded it too early. I appreciate this feed back and I will see how it progresses. Plum Duff is considerably better now after a month or so ,so I must refrain from recording untill the tune and I are ready. Thanks again Al

Hope you like it Al http://youtu.be/IDEGUjkyf1g A very interesting approach to this tune and great playing (sorry I didn't comment earlier, I was traveling and don't type well on an iPhone!) I've been doing it for years - in medley with Crested Hens, as on the AI CD, and I pretty much imitated that version.
Alan Day Posted November 30, 2014 Author Posted November 30, 2014 I listened closely to the recording and it looks as if the timing goes astray at one point. I need a bit more time on it.I think I will re post Plum Duff I really like my new version great fun tune. Thanks for the comments very constructive Al
John Wild Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 Also it only represents about four days practice so I problably got exited Please don't get exited too soon. You could get excited instead!
Irene S. Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 Geoff - it is indeed the Eric recording on Anglo International, and Ralphie playing it on the Maccann duet. And I am happy to buy Duet International when and where it comes out, despite the fact that I already have English International and Anglo International already. Roll on the day when it becomes a full set. Can you find some more chords? Ralph used some minors ( or diminisheds) and Seventh's in the version that I have ( a recording of the group 'Eric).... though I have yet to buy Anglo International I suspect it could be the same recording.... You could get excited instead! I wondered what you were talking about until I read my spelling mistake above. Of course now you have pointed it out it will mean another 100 lines from irene and I already have 100 to do. Al
Peter Laban Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 Am I the only one to think the thread title is oddly macaronic and La Petite Valse would probably suit better?
Wolf Molkentin Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 Am I the only one to think the thread title is oddly macaronic and La Petite Valse would probably suit better? Sounds a bit Cajun as is...
