Hillsider Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 Edel Fox has a new course on the Online Academy of Irish Music site. The videos are great and she gives good tips while demonstrating the tunes. In addition there is a slow animated facility that shows the fingering of the tunes. Think beginners as well as intermediate players will get a lot from this resource. I have nothing to do with OAIM by the way other than being a subscriber.
Ian Martyn Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 I saw these and they're really cool. The diagrams with the buttons are really helpful (although I've found an error in them already). I've already run through the free lessons and am thinking of subscribing when my new concertina arrives.
sidesqueeze Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 Can anyone give us a list of the tunes she teaches?
Ian Martyn Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 The only tunes she teaches in the free lessons are Maggie in the Woods and Terry Teehan's. I'm not sure what the paid lessons include.

maki Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 I'd recommend OIAM to anyone who plays Irish. Try it for a month and see if it suits Your learning style. It's very good but like all things, one size does not fit all.
Jim Burke Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 A subscription to OAIM is $19.95 per month and I think you can quit any time. For the monthly fee you get full access to all the lessons they have on the site (fiddle, flute, whistle, etc.) as well as all of Edel's teaching videos and all of Ernestine Healy's, The videos are good quality and the instructors are accomplished. Unless you're a very advanced player on a variety of instruments, you'll find something here worth $19.95 per month.
