Long Haired David
I have a Lachenal Anglo. The are that holds the strap down on the right hand side has broken. I need to know what sort of wire I should get to repair it. Here is a photo of the left hand side. Thanks in advance for any help. Graham Collicutt
One solution: http://www.concertina-spares.com/catalogue10.htm#12 and while you're waiting use some string or easier to get tight, several wraps of button or better, harness thread. Scroll down to bottom of page. Edited August 10, 2014 by Graham Collicutt
Alex West
David Either 1.6mm or 1.8mm diameter brass rod. Yours looks to be steel - which you can use - but I think it's too hard to bend and unnecessarily robust. My suggestion would be that you'll need to take the fretwork end off and unscrew the handstrap, then put the shaped brass oblong strap retainer on. If you try and do it with the end and handrest in-situ, you're almost bound to weaken the strap retainer or bugger up the handrest/fretwork end by trying to force things Alex West
Long Haired David
I have currently a length of tinned copper wire doing the job. Inelegant but serviceable. I have ordered a pair of strap guides from Concertina Spares. Thanks for the link. Thanks for the help. David
malcolm clapp
David, seeing as how your end bolts are brass, wouldn't brass strap guides look better? It is likely that yours were originally brass, and the current dull grey ones are replacements.
d.elliott
contact Mark Addy at concertina-spares, he sells them ready made. look him up on the internet, you will get a pair of strap loops for less than a length of brass rod.
