Shoe the Donkey and a whole lot of other names listed on your link. I've always known it as Pat Horgan's but have seen it called Saint Anthony's as well.

Words first published in The Bulletin 1897, submitted by a gentleman named Cecil Poole and titled "When Dad Comes Out Of Gaol". It seems that Poole had some 20+ of his humorous poems and short stories published in The Bulletin around that period, but little seems to be known about him.

Thanks Malcolm, I had previously stumbled across a reference to Mr Poole then forgot his name. Since you've googled him up I'll make a point of mentioning him whenever I sing this song.

Hi Steve, had a repeated listen today to your much entertaining performance. I find your being free for storytelling just splendid, and the rhythm in the chorus is lively and nice, having the listener waiting for it (and even more smiling) during the course of each verse... Really good stuff!
