Bill Crossland Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Lachenal Crane Duet 48 key numbered 3773 – newly restored with new pads and valves, and handstrap. Metal buttons have replaced the original bone buttons and these are bushed through the wooden ends. The wooden ends have been stripped and French polished. It’s also tuned to concert pitch. The concertina comes with its original leather case which still has a sound carrying strap but the original closing flap and lock mechanism are missing. The original six fold bellows are in good condition, and the frame is 6.5” across the flats. The instrument has a lovely mellow tone and is very responsive. The 20 keys on the left had span the range C below middle C to G above middle C, and the 28 keys on the right are middle C to F two octaves above. A keyboard layout can be seen here: http://www.hmtrad.com/sbx-info/images/crane48.jpg A Crabb stamp on the inside indicates that this was a Salvation Army instrument that was at some point in its life attended to by the Crabb family (thanks to Geoff for the information). Please pm me if you would like further pictures or information, or email me at bill.crossland1@btinternet.com Asking price £900, usual contribution to Cnet
