Wheatstone 20B Anglo, 1960S, Metal End On Ebay

Saw this listing and thought folks might want to know. I gave a shot last year at becoming a 20b Anglo guy (to buck the 30b trend, plus save money), but ended up just never warming to Anglo and sticking with Duet. But if I had gotten serious into 20b with my vintage Jones, I'd be looking awfully hard at this listing:

If I was considering that one, I'd be looking at these from Barleycorn/Chris Algar too:

Very pretty ends. Can we see some pictures of the internals?

What are the reeds like? Are they Mayfair reeds? Riveted in place or dove-talied?

What is the reed pan like? Is there room to put in two C# reeds?

Yes, I understand. I posed those questions to the seller, on the site. So far no answer.

I posted the questions on this site so that people might know that those pretty ends could be deceiving.

I can't vouch that this one is the same, though it may well be, but somebody brought one of these into my shop about 20 years ago, when it was still on Capel Street, Dublin, to ask if it could be converted to a 30-key.

That's not normally possible with a 20-key Anglo as they're usually designed for only that number of keys, but when I opened up the Wheatstone I discovered it was basically a 30-key manqué - internally arranged/made like a 30-key and lacking only the reeds and lever mechanisms for the extra 10 keys, and having room on the ends for the extra holes to be drilled too...

I believe that you are quite correct in this case Stephen.

I just sold my own 1965 Wheatstone 20 button after giving it a good cleaning and tuning last month. It was purchased by and up for sale in a very nice shop at $1499 for about only a couple of weeks before it sold.

This thread's ebay instrument started on Craigs list the week after my former concertina showed up on the shop's website. Likely where the intial idea of pricing came from. The Craigslist price was the same as the ebay buy it now price which the seller fully got. Good for them!

Here's a pic of my former instrument somewhere in the midst of my sorting it out. Look like the one you are referring to Stephen?
