dabrybry Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Hey there! First time poster so I thought I'd start off by saying Hello! I've recently become very interested in picking up and learning the concertina. I'm 100% new to it, but not instruments/music in general. It's sort of a hobby of mine, and I love learning new ones. I'd really like to pick up a nice used anglo 20-30 button. That seems to fit how/what I'd like to play. I know you get what you pay for with any instrument, but would like to start off with something relatively low on price at first. I'd prefer to keep my first one in the $200-$400 range. If you have something like that to part with please let me know! Thanks for looking,-Bryan
gcoover Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Try to go for a 30-button, it will make a huge difference in what you'll be able to play. Gary
Don Taylor Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 The usual advice would be to buy or rent a Rochelle.
Jeff Jetton Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Bryan, I was in the same position as your just a couple of months ago and took that "usual advice". The Rochelle turned out to be a great starter purchase, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. New, they're only slightly above your price range ($415). Used would probably run $50-$100 cheaper. I don't see them used on eBay much, but The Button Box seems to get used ones in from time-to-time. I'd check there first.
