On the back of a chat about singarounds we had a couple of weeks back, there's a new session starting soon in Birmingham, which Pam Bishop is setting up. It will be the first Thursday of every month, starting with the first Thursday in December (the 2nd) - we're 99% certain of the venue but it's not absolutely confirmed yet, so I'll update this thread as and when we know.

The only "rule" as such is that it is for traditional song only, whether unaccompanied or otherwise - there will already be two of us singing who play concertina, but it would be great to have more boxes in evidence... If you're near enough and are interested, put the date in your diary and come along armed with your concertina and some songs :)

I really wished I could turn up at your jam session as I think it would be a blast. I used to live in nearby 'Dudley' and 'Wolverhampton' and I used to go into Birmingham (pub crawl around the Bull Ring area) often; pity to be so far away now.

will the "Flying Pasty" be in attendance?!

see review section of The Independent 6th October (UK). [i'll try and scan it it late this week]

I'm sure that's a certain concertina player pretending to play a melodeon! :D

all the best,

Peter

Just thought I'd bring this topic back to light, although of course I probably should have done so a few days back to give anyone interested a little notice!

The first of our singers' sessions is happening tonight, as previously announced, upstairs at The Bull in Moseley, Birmingham - all welcome, especially if you bring a concertina to accompany yourself with! Current concertina-player roll-call stands at three :) We're assembling at about half past eight.

Incidentally, it looks like we may have to find another venue for future months - I'll post further details when we know what's happening.
