barryr Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 (edited) Hi guys, Can anyone help me identify my concertina. My father passed away recently and on clearing out the attic I came across this concertina. Having done a bit of research I think it may be a Lachenal. It has 30 buttons, metal ends and steel reeds. Although it needs a good cleaning everything seems to work. Any information would be appeciated especially its value cheers Barry Edited September 16, 2013 by barryr
maki Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 http://www.concertina.co.uk/ http://www.theboxplace.co.uk/ Either of these members should be able to give you a proper ID and current market value. Sorry that niether is close to you.
barryr Posted September 16, 2013 Author Posted September 16, 2013 Thanks for the reply Maki I'll check them out Barry
JimLucas Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 I think it may be a Lachenal. Definitely a Lachenal. The stamped trademarks in the wooden hand rest are Lachenal's. I'm not an expert on current prices, but it will depend a lot on current condition. Best to have someone knowledgeable examine it.
barryr Posted September 16, 2013 Author Posted September 16, 2013 Thanks Jim I'll see if I can find someone local to me who can value it.
maki Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 That was utterly thoughtless of me....very sorry about the loss of your father. Mine passed away last week, and I've been a bit out of sorts. My deepest sympathy to you and your family.
barryr Posted September 16, 2013 Author Posted September 16, 2013 My thoughts also go out to you and your family Maki. I know what you are feeling
