Appraiser says, "I use to be able to buy these in London for $15-20" then appraises it for $1500-1700

 

Owner smiles and says, "that's about $1500 more than I thought it was worth!"

And Wheatstone patented his concertina in 1929 ..... he must have been VERY old!

Despite the fact that it is a post-war concertina, the appraiser badly underestimated the current value.

I remember seeing this episode years ago, and I think that's the meaning of the two values given at the end -- one for 1998 and one for 2013.

Thanks for that Paul. I didn't even see that at the very end "2013 - $2500 - $3000" I was just listening to the audio. They should do voice-overs for reruns that old!

Hi, Paul. I didn't notice the year either. Still playing my Lachenal most of the time - the Aeola is too loud and the Crabb is too heavy.
