Anybody have the music ,or any ideas where I might find, for 'the Belphégor March' by Brepsant ?

It is a tune nicely recorded by Alexander Prince in approx. 1912 and again by Gordon Cutty in the early '70's

.... quite a good slice of work would be needed to play it .. but even more if I have to learn it by ear, and I'm too mean to buy a full Brass Band Score at £43 !

Will this do? It's a full marching band score but you can get it all on screen and you may be able to work it at bit. You need the Sibelius Scorch plug-in (available here)to read it on screen and play the MIDI.

IMSLP/Petrucci Library is usually a good source of free scores, they don't have this one unfortunately.

Sometimes a Google image search can throw up sheets like:

but you may/may not be able to lift a full score

Many thanks for the lead Wolf,

duly downloaded... plenty of octave work to keep the EC player busy in this piece !!

It is, for me, so perfectly typical of the playing of Gordon Cutty that I just have to try playing it as part of my undersanting of his style.

Yes happy pentecost to you and yours... we are off out to play now for a Dance in the street...(dancing in the rain today).

Best,

Geoff.

Thanks Peter,

I'll try the Piano score that Wolf suggested.. it is in the correct key for my sound sources too.. Lovely weather here  , just like Co.Clare!

If you PM me with your email address I will send you a scan of a handwritten score by the late great Harry Stanley of Birmingham. It will be wriiten for the English but will be arranged using the full compass of either a 48 or 56 Key English.Stanley also wrote for the Maccann and played both systems.I was taught by an English player in Birmingham in the early 1970's and he gave me his collection of Stanley arrangements that he had acquired. Now that I play the anglo more than the English I rarely have a go at these pieces.Neil Wayne also has the late Reubon Shaw's collection of Stanley arrangements written for the Maccann.Neil is more than willing to make this available to anyone who is interested.

Just got back from Clare, although I spent most of my time fishing on Lough Corrib.Cold, windy and no Mayfly so one fish all week

I suspect others here would love to have that Mark. Is it something you can make generally available??
