Chris Timson
If it's at all comforting, Woody, an analysis of all the games in the 2008 MC world series in Helsinki revealed only 8 actual moves that could be definitively proved to be not personal... SteveS
That's twice you've nobbled me in a short space of time. I'm starting to wonder if it's personal! Let's go and visit the dinosaurs at South Kensington I'd be holding off on this move. I'll see you with Kensington (Olympia). You spotted my little ruse and it seems you played the Brompton Double Back Manoeuvre. Jumping on the Piccadilly line brings me to Covent Garden. Chris Timson
This game now having reached its 68th day you will be interested to learn that I have registered it with the Mornington Crescent Club (Free Reed Aerophone Group) as an extended player. Since it is now officially an EP I am pleased to say that all laterals may be extended arbitrarily. Chris
Simon H
Well, that is unprecedented, with laterals extended the only move possible is : Kentish Town West.

Your laterals may be extended - I'm not sure mine are up to it any more! Baron's Court

Baron's Court I though we were going to be trapped in a web of laterals, but now that we can extend them, that cancels some of the restraining short laterals. I'll extend a Piccadilly lateral and visit Knightsbridge which, interestingly, has six consecutive consonants.
Woody
Day 78 in the Mornington Crescent house..... Many joined in, Many fell along the way But a few A gallant few Struggled on With hope in their hearts And a burning desire To achieve immortality And to be feted By Kings and paupers alike. But Alas! Just as glory was within their grasp And the long struggle rewarded With fanfares and parades Laurel wreaths and limitless wealth Some ignorant git from Wiltshire Spoiled it all By playing "Uncle Norman's Unpleasant Surprise" taking him to..... davidcorner
Well done! This has been a game of deep strategy, with so many blocking moves and tricky laterals that I thought we would never get to the end. I didn't think of "Uncle Norman", but being able to make use of his unpleasant surprise makes you the Conqueror.
Irene S.
Darn ... I took my eye off the ball. Uncle Norman's unpleasant surprise is a fiendish and some would say dangerous move to play. Your experience and guile shines through. Well done sir!
Woody
...Uncle Norman's unpleasant surprise is a fiendish and some would say dangerous move to play.... You're not wrong. I'm going to have to become a Catholic just so I can go to confession and cleanse my soul (though I think the stain may be impossible to remove). Christians may believe that Jesus died to save us from our sins but I don't think that "Uncle Norman's" was on his list! Still you know what they say "If you're not willing to totally debase yourself, throw away all sense of dignity and propriety, betray your nearest and dearest, embrace the deepest depths of depravity and do things that will haunt you for the rest of your life, you're not ready to play Mornington Crescent!" Chris Timson
Sorry, I've been away from my post for a few days and look what I find on my return ... I know I said laterals could be extended arbitrarily but I'm sure the Elders never had this in mind! But then, you're right, that's the whole point of Uncle Norman's unpleasant surprise, of course (I knew him, BTW, not a man to get close to. Too, too, um, surprising, one might say). Congratulations are in order to Woody, our first double winner. Chris PS, did a little Photoshopping here to superimpose a cartoon of a bottle of champagne on top of an actual photo of Woody.
