JimLucas Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 This isn't my instrument (though I'll be posting some, soon), but that of a young musician in Copenhagen. He inherited it from his late grandfather, and emailed me to ask for advice. I thought the easiest thing to do would be for me to drop by to see it, and after checking the serial number in the ledgers, "easy" wasn't the only motivation. The result of my all too brief visit is this web page that I've prepared. I'm not a price expert, but based on some recent conversations and instruments for sale, I've suggested to Frederik that he should be able to get £3500 (or 30 thousand Danish kroner) or even more. If I had the scratch, I'd certainly be willing to pay the "even more". Check out the web page to learn why. And of course, if it's sold as a result of this notice, a contribution will go to concertina.net.
cboody Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Very nice...money...money...must get money.....
Mike Franch Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Thanks for the concertina porn: it's something I'd never be worthy of possessing and I'd never be able to afford, but I have the vicarious pleasure of oogling and listening to with lust in my heart.
ceemonster Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 (edited) "even more"? really? for an admittedly-desirable-era-and-model EC that is not recently and completely restored; is not even recently re-tuned; and was (perhaps) last refurbished in the 1960s? i'd prefer a brand-new Harry Geuns hybrid baritone EC with screwed-in reeds, brand-new maple reed pans and a big fat savings into the bargain, i think... Wouldn't be the first time our tastes have differed.
