blakestree Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 (edited) Howdy, Could you help me out with finding a Christmas present for my father? He currently has a 20 button Regoletta, but he'd like something that sounds a bit better. What would be the next step up from the Regoletta? He had bad luck with a previous Hohner. He plays harmonica, accordion, organ, e.g. Thank you for your time! edit: Also, from talking with him just now, it sounds like he wants an Anglo. Edited December 9, 2012 by blakestree
gcoover Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 I'd recommend an Anglo with 30-buttons at the very least.
blakestree Posted December 9, 2012 Author Posted December 9, 2012 Thank you for the input. There are a couple on eBay that look like Rochelles and an Excalibur W-15-MS, at Jim Laabs Music, that looks similar to the Stagi W-15-MS. Are these the same instruments or inferior copies?
tinsmith Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 There are a couple on eBay that look like Rochelles They're inferior copies. Specifically if you are referring to the Bonetti I have first hand experience of it and the Rochelle. I personally think they sound very similar (but perhaps I do not have the best ear), but the Rochelle is much easier to play. I still like my Bonetti, but its definitely a starter instrument.
Don Taylor Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 Try a Google search on Jim Laabs, especially Troy Laabs.

No brand was even mentioned for the ones I saw on eBay. Heh.
