Anglo-Irishman
A Very Original CRANES 56 DUET, ... Peter, I don't know where you got the "56" from, but it's somewhat misleading. Usually such a number refers to the number of buttons, but the photos clearly show a 48-button Crane. There's no clear photo of the right-hand end, so I couldn't count all the buttons, but but the right-hand end definitely has only 20 buttons, and the top row on the right-hand end has 3 buttons, both of which indicate 48 buttons in all (not counting the air button, if there is one). The next larger Crane, the 55-button, has 25 left-hand buttons, and the top right-hand row has 5, so it can't be one of those. Having said that, I find my 48-button Crane (an ex-Salvation Army "Triumph", also made by Lachenal) perfectly adequate for all sorts of instrumental pieces and song accompaniments. If you're looking to sell, it would also be interesting to know whether it's in tune, and whether there are any issues, like reeds that don't sound properly. Cheers, John
peterhurst
Hello, to be honest I can only think that I was thinking of my Tenor Treble, You are right it is 48 key. I have just compared it to my English and it is in old pitch, The instrument plays fine and is in totally original condition. Yes I do want to sell it as it is of no use to me, These days I do not even pick up my Tenor Treble and have never played a tune for years now. Thanks Peter.
