William Clauson was one of the first to record Australian folk songs and his site now has a video filmed when he visited in the early 1950s.

There are three songs Flassh Jack From Gundagai, a song about Eureka (to the tune of the Parting Glass) and an Australianised 'The Devil and the Farmer's Wife' (set in Sydney.

The Eureka song has William picking up and supposedly playing an English concertina - well I don't think he is playing it despite his fingers occasionally being on the buttons (It probably had no reeds and was a theatre prop?)

Anyway, you get a good close up.

The clip takes a couple of minutes to download.

Enjoy.
