concertinapanhead Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 I'm interested in learning to play some zydeco music on my Stagi C3 (diatonic anglo concertina). This appears to for the most part be for our larger brethren the accordion. Does anyone know of any easy zydeco music in the keys of D or G? If so, can one play it on the concertina?
michael sam wild Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Accordion players use a C accordion on the pull for the key of G like a blues harmonica does. So the C row of a C/G should be OK D would be trickier if it's a two row.
Robert Booth Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Hi, 'panhead in your profile you don't mention harmonica anywhere. If you do play one, that'll help a lot; you should already have the feel for getting that kind of sound from a diatonic machine. If you don't, go get a nice Marine Band and put it in the car or pickup; honk on it while you are driving or whatever. the skills transfer directly, although the sound you get will be specific to the instrument (see recent threads about playing bluesy stuff on anglo). Each instrument will take you in its own direction. All that aside, tho, you should pick up on things pretty quickly. Where you at on the Oregon Coast? I grew up in Otis, in Lincoln County. Maybe down the road sometime...? It's not easy finding other concertina fans on Oregon, tho there are a few. Have fun, and welcome to c.net Rob
