I just stumbled on Kato Toru, a Japanese musician playing a 40 button Anglo in a very entertaining and harmonic style. Many of his selections are from Hayao Miyazaki's wonderful animation movies. He has a youtube channel with lots of videos. Check him out! Here is one:

Nice photo, though aside from concertinas it has nothing to do with the music or musicians in the YouTube number it appears with. I believe it's Peter Honri in a scene from the movie Oliver!

Thanks for the link!

A couple of links later, I found

. Interesting for those who are wondering about the concertina in jazz/ragtime. I particularly like the beautifully solid plectrum banjo ...

(sigh!) They don't make music like that nowadays. Or if any of you do, please let me know!:D

Cheers,

John

Yes John. Great stuff. 'One of these Days' is perfectly feasable on my 36 button Anglo. One of my many favourites. In so far as I am concerned the tune has to manage without that splendid banjo backing but there are plenty of ways around that to compensate.

( All the best music was composed long before I was born ! )
