Ptarmigan Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 Am I correct in thinking that this is the one: Wheatstone Concertina If so, do we know if it is perhaps an Extended Treble, a Tenor / Treble or a Baritone / Treble? I couldn't find it in the ledgers ..... Cheers, Dick
SteveS Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 (edited) Am I correct in thinking that this is the one: Wheatstone Concertina If so, do we know if it is perhaps an Extended Treble, a Tenor / Treble or a Baritone / Treble? I couldn't find it in the ledgers ..... Cheers, Dick Dick Looks like a treble to me - an early Aeola - the serial number corresponds to the lost ledgers. Based on a guesstimate of 400 instruments per year at that time, I'd suggest about 1906-07. Steve Edited October 31, 2011 by SteveS
Geoff Wooff Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 (edited) Looks like an Extended treble from the size given . Based on a calculated average of 197 instruments per year ( 3647 instruments made during the 18.5 year period of the lost ledger) I would suggest 1902-03. Geoff PS; Harley, maybe you could post some photos here ? You do not show a picture of the Right hand end on Ebay and that would be nice to see. Edited November 1, 2011 by Geoff Wooff
harley Posted November 1, 2011 Author Posted November 1, 2011 (edited) Hi,If you phone my daughter her mob number is on ebay. She should send the photo.I live 12 miles away with no phone or car.And the instrument is at her house.Regards Harley Edited November 2, 2011 by harley
Geoffrey Crabb Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Given the physical size of this instrument and the position of the keyboard in relation to the strap and finger plate centre screws this should be a 56 Treble or 'Extended Treble' as some would prefer. Geoff

Geoff Yes, if it was a tenor-treble, the bottom two buttons in the two rows nearest the fingerplate, would be in line with the bottom of the finger plate and the beginning of the thumb strap. Chris
harley Posted November 3, 2011 Author Posted November 3, 2011 (edited) Hi, Some one came to look at the Aeola,He noticed a fine hair line crack on the ebony side, the same side shown on ebay and here.He also noticed A seam on the inner bellows about a 1cm section which had come a part.I will get my daughter tomorrow to amend ebay decription tomorrow,if thats possible. He said it is common to have hair line in old Aeolas and easy put right. On the good side He was impressed how little ware there was on the ebony around the buttons on the thumb strap etc.It looks a lot better than me, and Ive only been on the planet 53 years. I emailed Wheatstone about how much to repair bellows, they asked what model,I did not know the said measure it.They came back with approx. £100.At the time I did notknow about the seam gone. All the best M Harley Edited November 4, 2011 by harley
