October 7.00 - 9.00 p.m. Rottingdean Library, The Grange, The Green Rottingdean, East Sussex, BN2 7HA Images, traditional songs and readings about life on the land in Sussex at the time the Lewes Phoenix Foundry opened in 1832 and the changes it brought to working people's lives. The show was originally put together for the Lewes Phoenix Oral History Project. The images are supplied by Allan and Rene Marriott's Magic Lantern, the Victorian ancestor of the slide projector. There are plenty of images of familiar Sussex landscapes and buildings from over a hundred years ago. The lantern will also show an entertaining group of novelty slides with special effects, many of them humorous. Music from Spare Parts Concertina Band.
