Michael Reid Posted July 18, 2004 Posted July 18, 2004 Paul and Ken: Over in the general discussions forum, people have again been confused by the fact that viewing the results of a poll before voting nullifies one's right to vote. While this is IPB's default configuration, I'd like to suggest that you change it. In the Admin Control Panel, it can be changed under Systems Settings/Topics, Posts, & Polls ("Allow members to view the results of a poll without losing their vote?").
Richard Morse Posted July 18, 2004 Posted July 18, 2004 Either that or have the words "null vote" changed to "view current poll results and forfiet your chance to participate". The first time I encountered a poll I clicked on the "null vote" thinking that it meant that I wasn't voting at this time - to be disappointed that I was then locked out from voting at all - though that wasn't apparent either as the next screen said "You have already voted in this poll" when I clearly hadn't. Very confusing!

Where did you learn all about this software, Michael?
Michael Reid Posted July 20, 2004 Author Posted July 20, 2004 (edited) Where did you learn all about this software, Michael? After seeing how well IPB (Invision Power Board) was working for Concertina.Net, I set one up for a nonprofit I'm involved in. That board is hosted by Invision, so I didn't have to do the hard work of installing the software. I spent a lot of time paging through the dozens of menus to try to understand the various configuration options and just happened to remember this one. Thanks, Ken!
