John Wild
My copy of 'Fiddle music from Northern Lands' arrived yesterday, and it's lovely - nice clear music & good production values generally, lots of information, and a good proportion of new-to-me tunes alongside the standards. That's my leisure playing sorted for the next few weeks Thanks to John Wild for the tip-off. Glad you like it - John
ceemonster
there also the classic Shanachie cd, "three swedish fiddlers," full of wonderful swedish melody music that would sound brilliant on either anglo or EC....i have had this for years on both cassette and cd and love it.... http://www.amazon.com/Three-Swedish-Fiddlers/dp/B000000DUL let's not forget mark gilston's marvelous "Troll Road," a recording of swedish and other scandinavian tunes, on EC and dulcimer, tracks samplable at cdbaby: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/gilston4
AnnC
apologies for the slight thread drift but does anyone have an English translation of the Finnish lyrics for Georg Malmsten's song 'Sarkynyt Onni'? It's a lovely sad melody but when people ask me what I'm playing all I can tell them is that it's known as 'Broken Fortune' (or Shattered Happiness). Thanks Ann Edited September 4, 2011 by anlej
