Jeff Stallard Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 I just listed my Elise Hayden Duet on Ebay, then it dawned on me that I should have gone here first, seeing as this site was so helpful when I was first learning to play. If someone from here ends up getting it, let me know and I'll donate to the site. All the information is at this link: Auction Link
Tragus Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 What is your "Buy it now" price? [i missed the last Elise here in the forums over a weekend, so thought I'd ask...]
Jeff Stallard Posted April 18, 2011 Author Posted April 18, 2011 It was $300 (w/ free shipping), but someone already put in a bid, so the Buy it Now option is gone.
gerardo1000 Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 (edited) In your E Bay auction you say that you tried to adjust to the Hayden System but finally you went back to the English concertina. Do you mind to elaborate a bit ? I have an English concertina for rent and would be interested in trying a Duet, but I read so different and controversial opinions about this kind of concertina that I am totally confused. (By the way,up to today, Wed April 20 at 10:12 pm Eastern Time, I am the high bidder..) Thanks ! :-) Edited April 21, 2011 by gerardo1000
Tragus Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 It appears gerardo and I may be in friendly competition. With luck, there will be a donation to concertina.net in the near future in either case. I don't play myself, but I've been on the look out for a starter 'tina for my 16-yo daughter who has expressed interest in learning for a while. However, I'm not well-healed enough to invest in an instrument that may end up being a short-term interest (since she *already* plays the viola, ukulele, electric bass, accordion (sorta), and who knows what's next). Of course, she says she wants a banjo if a reasonable 'tina can't be found.
Jeff Stallard Posted April 21, 2011 Author Posted April 21, 2011 I'm only 5'7", plus I have short little 'punkin fingers, and because of that the stretch getting to the upper rows was not comfortable. I probably could have gotten used to it, but I just decided to go back to the English.
