Lawrence Reeves Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 I was in Atlanta for work last week, and found time to connect with Father Mile Hogan for some tunes. He is originally from Dublin, and learned much of his music form the late John Kelly. He mentioned that his father had played concertina on occasion, but mostly the concert flute and whistle. He and I had never met, but found a great many tunes to play over the course of a few hours. Fr. Hogan told me his grandfather was form Newmarket in Clare, and that Willie Clancy and Bobby Casey were guests to the house in Dublin when he was young. The night will be cherished, and hopefully repeated on my next trip to the Atlanta area.
