shelly0312 Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 I see a tutor CD on Amazon from 1998--of Alistair Andersons'; I suppose with a little research I could answer one question on my own....but does this CD precede Steel Skies? Or would some of Steel Skies be discuss on it? I know all players rave about live person tuitions with Alistair--how about this CD if I don't think I'll get to see him in person? Michelle SE Wis USA
Greg Jowaisas Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Michelle, If this is the "Concertina Workshop" with accompanying book I have two words: "Get it!" Always encouraging and prodding, Greg
Pete Dunk Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Until recently there was a downloadable PDF of a very ropey scan of the book, this has now been updated to a superb PDF copy, download it for free here: Concertina Workshop

Michelle SE Wis USA I have a vinyl copy of Steel Skies and it's dated 1982. My vinyl of the Concertina Workshop (the music to go with the tutor book) deceased a while ago and I bought the CD - that says the original was 1974. Chris
Pete Dunk Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 I have a vinyl copy of Steel Skies and it's dated 1982. Chris, just so you know Topic records recently re-released Steel Skies on CD as part of thier 70th Anniversary celebrations :-)
shelly0312 Posted April 11, 2011 Author Posted April 11, 2011 so with hot VISA card in hand I should probably order Jody's CD of ol' time music and Alistairs Steel Skies? seems like a worthwhile project to me!!! Michelle
Pete Dunk Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 (edited) I would add the excellent Old Time Music CD by Greg Jowaisas and friends. If you buy a bespoke case for your concertina from Greg you may find one inside - I did! I can thoroughly recommend the case too Edited to add a pic of the case: Edited April 11, 2011 by tallship

Pete Dunk Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Workhop? You'll have to blame Free Reed Records (or possibly Marcus Music) for that typo - but the link still works!
