Who's the bloke playing the Herrington?

Is it my imagination, or have the Herringtons really improved in sound? I have an early square one, on long term loan to a friend, and the one in this video sounds a lot better.

Will Ward was (is?) a bassoon player who performed and recorded with Fiddlers' Dram (Day trip to Bangor), apparently without being a full member of the band.
