JimLucas Posted June 27, 2004 Posted June 27, 2004 Has anyone noticed eBay item #3732416963, a 64-button Edeophone Maccann? It looks excellent, and I wish I could afford to bid. Because of its size (10" across the flats, according to the seller), I thought it might be pitched lower than normal. so I actually phoned the seller (who said he didn't know about music) to check by listening. Nope, it's what I think is normal for a Lachenal with that many buttons: down to middle C in the right hand and G 1½ octaves lower (bass clef bottom line) in the left. So I have to guess that the size must be intended to impart a particular tonality, though that was hard to judge over a voice telephone line with an inexperienced "player" and broken hand straps. It did seem to be in tune with my A440 instrument. It's steel reeds in brass frames. The seller sent me a photo of the left-side reed pan, which looks in good shape. It also shows that the chambers are indeed quite roomy.
JimLucas Posted June 28, 2004 Author Posted June 28, 2004 It went for "only" $1825 US. I would have expected at least a little more. The uncertainties of the market, I guess.
