New 2nd edition Rochelle

Recommended Posts

Hello.

I bought a 2nd edition Rochelle from Concertina Connection Inc. recently. I wrote about it on my blog.

http://irish.cocolog-nifty.com/flute_concertina/2011/04/anglo-concertin.html

I put some pictures on my blog, which include a few pictures which show inside of my Rochelle. It's very interesting for me to see inside of concertinas.

It's larger than other anglo concertinas. I compared its size with the size of my Wakker anglo concertina on my blog.

Thank you for reading my post.

Cheers,

Tomoyuki

P.S.

I recorded some Irish tunes, playing my Rochelle.

Have you got round to G/D models in the new edition yet, Wim?

I'd love to see this too, as you know. Nevertheless, great that you're not resting on your laurels (and, after all, you've got more laurels than most to rest on - or am I pushing that metaphor too far?)

Hello.

I recorded some more Irish tunes on my Rochelle.

I hope my recording will be useful for those considering buying a Rochelle...

We just received the first shipment of the new Rochelle. The 2nd edition Rochelle has Italian Cagnoni reeds...

Good on ya, Wim!

I hope they are a huge success.

Were there any other changes with this new iteration?

Do I detect another fold in the bellows?

I'd really like to hear a bit more boasting on your part;

tell us just how much improved Rochelle 2.0 is!

Thanks

Did I hear that you have ordered a Rochelle? If so, perhaps you'd share your decision with us...

I did indeed.

This 20-button Stagi is a lot of fun,

but the sticking buttons and general lack of playability

demand that I have a better box if I am to keep playing.

And the only options open to my budget for a playable anglo

are a Rochelle or a cheap and good used instrument.

The problem with a used instrument is

that if it's both playable and in my price range

the seller would have to be as ignorant as I am.

And I am far too ignorant to assess and evaluate a used concertina.

So I have purchased a first generation Rochelle

unseen from a member of this forum

halfway across the continent

(isn't the internet a wonderful thing?).

I'll post a review when I've had the chance to play with it a bit.

I'll keep my eyes open

for the opportunity to play a second-generation Rochelle,

and if that happens I will post a side-by-side comparison as well.

I only hope that someone much more knowledgeable will beat me to it,

as that will be a much more valuable report.

Have you received the Rochelle yet? There is another first generation for sale on the forums and someone else might be interested in a review.

Cheers,

*scratching my head*

I coulda sworn I posted this here a coupla hours ago,

but I don't see it now.

Meds, I suppose.

Well, hey!

My Rochelle showed up two days ago!

After paying ransom to our benevolent government

I finally got my hands on it

and haven't set it down yet :)

I posted my initial impressions in the General Discussion thread

Rochelle 1.0, a novice's review.

Thanks for asking!
