Ransom Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 When did thay start putting microphones in concertinas? I has a Shure Brothers 99B94 And it like it has accordion reeds, I can't Find a pic for sq box concertina reeds. As I recall, you've got something like a Chemnitzer. I'm not sure their reeds are the same as accordion reeds, though I expect they're more similar to accordion reeds than to the reeds in an English-style concertina. You sound like you're trying to determine a date of manufacture for your instrument based on the presence of a microphone in it. But are you sure the instrument was made with a microphone? I would tend to suspect that the microphone was added later.

And I think it's quite possible that some of them were built with internal mics.
Stephen Chambers Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 I has a Shure Brothers 99B94 It seems, from the greenbulletmics.com website, that the Shure Brothers microphone in question wasn't made before the 1970s.
