Hello Wes

I'm looking at Ledger C1047 Page 023. My interest is that I have just bought concertina serial No. 3293. First purchased by Miss Caroline Way 6th August 1851 in the paid column there is a figure of 2.2.0 in the next column it contains a No. 4.

Regards

Ron

Hi Ron,

I've always read that '4' like figure as 'Ex', meaning that the price paid was to part exchange a different instrument for the one sold.

Edit:

The ledgers record that she did another exchange on the 25th Aug (page 25) for instrument 3082, which might be your instrument.

Serial 3293 appears three more times in C1047:

page 031: 22 Oct 1851

page 064: 01 Jun 1852

page 072: 14 Aug 1852
