LDT Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 (edited) Here's a little tune I wrote (hopefully not channeling any other tune - I've listened to it back so many times I can't tell). So here it is.... X:2 T:Speed t' Knitting C:LDT N:Inspired by a challenge set by TSMB N:Composed on C/G Tedrow Anglo Concertina N:Thanks to Steve for transcription of my playing M:6/8 K:G P:A HD [| "G"G2A BGB | "D"B2A B2 c | "C"c2B "G"ABA | G2 F G2 E | G2A BGB | B2A B2 c | "C"c2B ABA | "G"G2 F "D"D3 :|] P:B "G"G2A B2A | G2B "C"GFE | "G"G2A B2A | "D"G2B "C"FED | "G"G2A B2A | G2B "C"GAB | "G"G2A B2A | "G"G2B "D"HD3 :|] comments welcome p.s. Steve Mansfield Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Won't even contemplate commenting on the tune itself until I get home and run it through the Wheatstone - but I can see that you've got a transcription error in the final bar, a rogue H has crept in. "G"G2B "D"HD3 :|] That's assuming you're not writing some specialist variant of abc that allows H to stand for Bb, thus enabling you to do the old 'Variations on BACH' thing ...

Paste it into the tune o tron then you'll see what it does

It's not a transcription error. 'H' is ABC coding for a fermata or pause.
fernando Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Can anybody please play this tune? I learn everything by ear, and I feel curious about this tune. I don't mind if the recording has mistakes, if this is the case, a few rounds to the tune will be enough to understand it. Or maybe someone can play it with another instrument that allows to play the melody line in an easier way. Or maybe someone can whistle it! Fernando

JimLucas Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 It's not a transcription error. 'H' is ABC coding for a fermata or pause. Another word for it is "hold", as in "hold onto this note a little longer than normal". I suspect that's where the H comes from.
LDT Posted November 23, 2010 Author Posted November 23, 2010 This is my original recording...with 'mistakes' http://www.onmvoice.com/play.php?a=31996
fernando Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Thanks for this tune, I like jigs, and this style is the one I usually play. Never mind the mistakes, I always do them, and If I'm recording or there is someone listening I do even more, I wouldn't make a good professional player! But enjoy the playing... that's my speciality!
