Ptarmigan
I just spotted this video of Norman Chalmers & The Bairns on YouTube. Norman Chalmers & Jock Tamson's Bairns So what were you doing, back in 1979? Cheers Dick
Sailor
So what were you doing, back in 1979? My goodness my guinness - we had plenty of it in 1979 on our 6 week tour through scotland and ireland. And we had a funny night in our tent on Skye during the legendary storm which caused the fastnet yacht race tragedy. In Ireland I bought my first concertina (very cheap - made in GDR) toyed around and drove my friends half mad. At that time even in Germany we had plenty of good irish an scottish music in bars and clubs. Now I'm thirsty. Cheers
Ptarmigan
Ha Ha Sailor. Towards the end of '80 I went over to West Berlin & stayed there for over a year, playing the Irish Bars most nights of the week. I guess we were both part of some sort of cultural exchange programme! I bought my first Concertina, a wee Lachenal, in Dublin in '80. ..... Ahhhh the Good Old Days! Cheers Dick

Cheers Dick That maybe when we got our first concertina. We put Steve Turner up for the night after a gig at the East Kilbride FC, and within a few months DH got a lach. EC. He moved on to learn fiddle and I got the concertina ... we still have it, though I play one of my own now. Chris ps he also cooks very well!!
