Greg Jowaisas Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 For those of you able to access the TG4 website, John Kelly appears in the first part of this Siar an Botha: http://live.tg4.ie/main.aspx?level=ceol&content=178042788865 In the second half is a trip oer parts of the Burren with a group of players Frank Custy got together, with an easily identifiable concertina player in there: http://live.tg4.ie/main.aspx?level=SiarBothar&content=178055937025 Thank you for the links. In the second video I believe the "young " concertina player is Geroid O hAllhmurain. In two watchings I did not see Noel Hill. Greg
Bruce McCaskey Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Great video, and I am of the same opinion regarding the concertina player. I've heard Gearóid Ó hAllmhuráin play the same tune (featured on concertina in this video) at his Friday Harbor classes, seems I recall he said was called "Bruach na Carraige Báine," or "The Brink of the White Rock." It's my understanding that "A Stor Mo Chroi" (Treasure of my heart) is based on this tune.
Bill Crossland Posted August 31, 2010 Author Posted August 31, 2010 Must have been the beard that threw me - I will make enquiries!
