michael sam wild Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 I was browsing through a book on old Sheffield today at the art gallery bookshop but was dragged away to do the shopping!. I will go back and maybe buy it or browse more! It had a print of him- a Mr Wing I think. It mentions him as an old blind musician who used to play near the Markets in the 1890s . In between tunes he would quote Biblical pasages and held a Bible open as he did. One day some lads threw dirt at the good book. Mr Wing roared 'Them little xxxxxxxx had better xxxx off' or some such utterance, then resumed playing.
Guest HallelujahAl! Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Did you get the book Mike? Sounds brill! I'm playing in Chesterfield town centre on Saturday morning - down on Vicar Lane (near the Ann Summers shop )I'll bear the example in mind! Though I must remember to keep my language clean! Regards AL
michael sam wild Posted October 15, 2010 Author Posted October 15, 2010 I haven't got the book yet but he seemed to be a well loved character. Best of luck on the street!
