Many years ago at the Black Horse Sing around a person sat sketching all night.

He showed me the pictures at the end of the evening and were musicians that were playing that night.

He said they were for a statue to be built in Reigate Surrey and at last I have taken a photo of it.

Many of you will see the likeness of myself in this photo(which is me).

Alan,

Do you mind if I send this in for the photo gallery of the English Concertina site? Or could you. Wonderful

rss

Thanks Randy

I am happy for you to post it on the English Site, I am not a member (I think)so it would be easier if you did it.

If you want the other side which includes Fiddle and Tambourine just Email me and I will send it over.

The pedant in me, assumes that it must be an Anglo that the stone figure is holding (difficult to tell from the angle of the photo), so perhaps it shouldn't be posted on the English concertina site but the Anglo one?

Hey, I wonder if those guys were actually playing ROCK Music, when the artist captured their images for this? :P

For those of you who haven't met Alan, can I just tell you this is a stunningly accurate likeness ...

Chris

No doubt Chris, you are referring to his movie star like chiseled features! B)

Definitely Folk Music, on the other sides (sorry I could not post them, I have run out of space)

There is a Banjo player, A Tambourine player, A flautist (her on the top)and a violinist.

The Blackhorse Sing around was at Nuthurst in Sussex, not too far from Horsham and the artist tuned up there one night and sketched all these figures.(About mid sixties)

I'd get that left knee/cartilage/shin injury fixed fast Al or it could go the same way as your chin and mouth. Must be from trying to tap your foot and the thigh keeps lifting off

Intresting thought....if in a hundred years time people will point at the statue and say I wonder who they were?

I suppose an interesting idea - to meld several musicians into one statue. Sorta gets at the idea of the music from each making up the whole etc.

Just as well it isn't a bronze casting, or else the musicians would be into heavy metal. :D
