Plain Fretwork

Taka,

I'm fairly certain it is also a Jones. Sometimes The Jones stamp is found in the uncut area.

I am not sure if the lack of fretwork beneath the palm rest is an indication of period in Jones manufacture. Did Jones begin with less cut fretwork and progress to the design we normally associate with this type of concertina?

I suppose we could compare serial #s and get an idea of when this type of Jones was made.

BTW note the purplish gussets. The entire bellows were probably more like the gussets color at one time. I worked on a Jones 20b last year that had beautiful cordovan bellows that hadn't been colored over with black.

Hi All

Very similar to one I picked up last year which I will be restoring shortly...

George Jones S/N 12057 with the broad steel reeds. Was thinking mine was 1875 - 80, and perhaps a more 'budget' version of the ones you see with similar (but slightly more ornate) fretwork
