My apologies to everyone for my long absence from these Forums, mainly because among the things that I didn't get posted were updates on this year's Scandinavian Squeeze-In.

It
is
happening!

The dates are April 23-25 (the last weekend in April). We're now taking bookings

I plan to write some more in this Topic within the next few days, but right now it's nearly one o'clock in the morning where I am, so

Good Night.

The other day I received an invitation to the SSI from ssi@nonce.dk, signed by Jim.I have attempted to respond to it twice, but it keeps bouncing as "undeliverable."

The message I was trying to send was:

Thanks for the invitation.

I do hope to get there one of these years, but this isn't it. It's the same weekend as NEFFA and we're Morris Dancing there.

All the best.

David Barnert

If the data in the bounce message will help Jim understand the problem, here it is:

Hi David, and thanks for the heads up.

I have recently had problems receiving email at another address on the same ISP. The odd thing is that some emails get blocked, yet others get through with no trouble. And there seems to be a correlation, though not 100%, with the address the email is sent from. Now I see that it's a more general problem. Unfortunately, my ISP is small, and I don't think they take service calls on the weekend, but I'll try to get this solved as quickly as possible.

Meanwhile, anyone who sends an email to me (or the SSI) and has it bounce, please send me a PM here on the Forum.

As for the conflict with NEFFA... yeah, that's a problem. There are only a limited number of weekends in the year, so conflicts are inevetible. And we're going to hold to our dates (last full weekend in April). The couple of years we departed from that schedule, the departure did more harm than good.

But dare I hint that in the future there may be another opportunity? Maybe not this year, but a friend with a farm in a less accessible but very beautiful part of Sweden wants me to arrange a Squeeze-In on her farm. (She doesn't play, but she loves the music.) Should we maybe try to do something like that to coincide with the berry-picking season? ;)

I have deleted the original content of this post, because it was the same as the preceding post.

The Forum software told me there was an error and indicated that it had saved my post, rather than posting it. So I tried posting it again, and suddenly there were two copies.

I am pleased to report that my ISP says they have found the cause of the problem and fixed it, thanks in part to reports from David and myself. It appears to be true.

Since I have no way of knowing how many individuals suffered the same problem, or possibly didn't even receive the original email Invitation, I will now send a follow up email to all concerned, with apologies for possible duplication.

I'm pleased to say that not everyone experienced problems, and a few email bookings have managed to get through, as well as (I'm sorry to say) a few individuals sending regrets but asking to be kept informed of next year's SSI.

Well, we did it!

Attendance this year was low, for reasons including (but hardly limited to) serious email difficulties and a spewing volcano. But those who did come -- including one who gambled on the resumption of air traffic, and won -- agreed that it was worth it, and all have said they plan to return next year... along with many more, I hope.

I'll write more in a few days, but I hope the others will also contribute their perceptions.

For now, I'll extend a preliminary invitation to all and sundry to

SSI 2011

The 12th Annual Scandinavian Squeeze-In

April 22-24, 2011

That's the last full weekend in April.

We expect once again to be at our usual location, in the village of Torna Hällestad in southern Sweden.
