allan atlas Posted August 29, 2003 Posted August 29, 2003 FOLKS: one of the nice things about the new site is that one can dig out all kinds of interesting statistics. . . . . .one thing seems certain: there seems to be a definite correlation between the length of the posting and the number of people who read and respond to it. . . . . . the morale: keep things short, as i will in the future.............allan
JimLucas Posted August 30, 2003 Posted August 30, 2003 there seems to be a definite correlation between the length of the posting and the number of people who read and respond to it Hmm. Responding I can understand, but *reading*? How can a person tell how long a post is before looking at it? Am I missing something? For that matter, with this forum's format of showing multiple posts together on the same screen, how can the system tell *which* posts I've read and which I haven't? Allan, where did you find these statistics? Generally, I find the statistical emphasis here to be an annoyance, but I must admit to being curious about how such information can be established.
allan atlas Posted August 30, 2003 Author Posted August 30, 2003 JIM: i simply meant that one can see how many people read the thing. . . . .that was about it. . . . . .as for knowing how long something is: i guess one just runs out of gas after a while.....................though those who do so would still be counted among the readers....................allan
