I am trying hard to get back on the horse after financial challenges forced me to sell my Dipper a couple of years ago. Having nothing to play was getting truly depressing; so I just sprung for all I could afford: a used Stagi 40 key anglo from the BB. I really didn't like the action or the key spacing (though I can probably live with the latter). It also leaked like a Russian submarine; I don't know if it is the bellows or the reed pan or if I am just plain spoiled. I sent it back for them to check out. They are being very gracious about it and said they could either fix "a few keys" or give me a refund. I don't know what else I can get into right now, so I would be grateful for any insights about how to make it more playable. (Though I really expect that the BB has done all that can be done).

Actually a Rochelle at the BB is even cheaper. I was thinking of going that route, since they will allow a full credit of the very modest purchase price if you decide to upgrade to a Morse. I have also been doing some research on the Rochelle on the forums at it sounds like a better bet.

I think that's worth a try. If you don't mind having 30 buttons rather than 40, the Rochelle is likely to be a better built concertina.

I just went for the 40 key at the BB because it seemed to be a good deal. Actually, I played 30 keys for years until I had to sell the Dipper. I know nothing I can afford now is going to come within light years of that, but you pays your money and you takes your choice. Thanks for the feedback.
