SqueezeCat Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 It's been a while since I posted anything. Heres a shot of the concertina on the bench http://twitter.com/HomewoodMusic Hello Bob, From the pic (http://twitpic.com/tmz89) looks like you've decided to go with your "keyboard overlap" layout, giving leading tones for DM and EM. Also, looks like you've gone with a parallel, Wicki, arrangement rather than the sloped Hayden. I'll have to say I'm favouring the parallel Wicki at the moment. I'm feeling the sloped Hayden works great visually, but concertina players don't play looking at the keyboard. Instead we play by touch. I've been paying attention to finger-fall, and the 10deg slope is more or less opposite to how my fingers naturally drop on to the keyboard. The instrument is looking pretty--will look forward to seeing it finished.
Boney Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 Nice looking scrollwork and the wood is gorgeous. I'd rather have the octagon flats on the sides though, instead of the points.

Yes -- at least three of us have requested that Bob put the flat sides against our tummies and laps, instead of "come from Alabama with a corner on my knee." I hope he'll do the redesign to let a flat side rest on our laps. --Mike K. W
