Daniel Hersh Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 I realize that beauty (or the lack thereof) is in the eye of the beholder, but...it's here, combining incredibly garish bellows with a non-removable advertisement:
Chris Timson Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 Oh, that looks wonderful. I certainly know now what to ask for in the way of bellows papers on my next Dipper ... Chris
Christian Husmann Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 I´ve got an old chemnitzer (or whatever that is) and maybe I´ll win the price with that one. As soon as I have a new digital camera I will post a picture of the bellows - although the interest might be limited, I know Greetings Christian Oh, that looks wonderful. I certainly know now what to ask for in the way of bellows papers on my next Dipper ... Chris
malcolm clapp Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 (edited) I reckon that recent Wheatstone Alto offering from Chris Algar here got a hit with the ugly stick. I rather like that German one which started this thread. I can't see "ugly" in that, at least externally, though I suspect it would be pretty ugly inside, which is why I probably won't be bidding! Stephen Chambers Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 I reckon that recent Wheatstone Alto offering from Chris Algar here got a hit with the ugly stick. Actually, I've been meaning to mention I think I've seen that instrument before, and know what it is. It looks very much like one that belonged to Alf Edwards, which I mentioned here: I think I saw that single-action concertina back in the early '70s when Jim Harvey (who was then Secretary of the ICA & friendly with Alf) had it for sale. Does/did it have aluminium ends with louvres cut in them, instead of fretwork? If so, it has fishtail reeds like a clarinet concertina, but it was made to imitate a Saxophone! But it would be 36 years since I last saw it...
