Explanation Of "my Controls"

I think I'm getting used to the new format. But when I went to the "My Controls" section I got lost. What is an "avatar" Why should i post a new picture when I don't have an old one? An explanation of everything there would be really helpful. Thanks -- Tom

Think of an avatar as an icon that stands for you. It's your face on the forum. When people see it, they know it's you, even if they don't know what you look like.
