  1. Sydney, Australia, is set to host its first folk festival in over 40 years. It will be a festival like no other and staged across an entire block of the city's CBD - and using various venues from an 1841 church to two pubs. I have been appointed Artistic Director and as a concertina player I'd like to see a few players, especially English Concertina (I'm biased) at the sessions (I'll give special dispensation to the other systems!). The festival will be staged over the weekend 16/17/18 August and, hopefully, it will become an annual event. Don't say you haven't been warned.
  2. If your New Year's resolution is to play more concertina... ...then join us for the concertina workshops at the Old Pal music festival in Palestine, TX! What: A music festival full of workshops, concerts, jamming, friendship and above all FUN! Who: We are excited to welcome Jody Kruskal back as our instructor this year! Jody specializes in old-time music and will be offering classes both at beginner and advanced levels, making this a great experience for concertinists of all levels. When: The festival will open with a concert on the evening of Thursday, March 22 and run all day Friday-Satu
  3. This festival is held every year in Port Townsend, WA, and brings tradition-bearers from all over the US, and beyond, for a week of workshops, band labs, tutorials, jamming, etc. It's a great festival, including for non-fiddlers. This year, the band RéVeillons from Quebec will be on staff, including David Berthiaume on English concertina. There will also be a concertina tutorial, tutor is Janet Dows on anglo. (Tutorials can emphasize repertoire or technique, depending on who attends.) http://centrum.org/festival-of-american-fiddle-tunes-the-workshop/
